Cameo Gift

March, as many of you readers know, is birthday month! For today's birthday friend and colleague, we planned a special surprise. To celebrate her and with a little help from her husband, we sent her a video from Cameo.  Have you seen Cameo?

Today's birthday friend once taught an award winning actress. She enjoys media. She absolutely loves the 90s hit, Friends. She celebrated a recent birthday with a Friends-themed party at a local Friends-theme cafe, Central Perk. Everyone was in Friends' costumes--it was a grand celebration.

Today's birthday friend has Friends themed coffee mugs and puzzles and other fun Friends swag. She quips in Friends lingo and lines. She names episodes and knows the perfect Friends scene for any situation.  I love that about her.

I also love that the gift we gave her so suited. As she mentioned this morning, such a unique gift is the  Gallup strength of individualization in action.  In life, as in school, when we can recognize what others love and need, we can individualize. When we do that, we invite in magic. The video gift was a bit of magic and a lot of fun.

In it, Hankins sends best wishes, names us and the birthday friend and then he goes down rabbit holes of being sequestered with birds and cats and dogs. He unwinds a funny short bit about a pet ostrich and masking up for Covid

. Funny and quirky,  his message makes me smile. One line I love:

"Whatever you are doing, stop the noise and have a happy birthday."

A good reminder for any day of the week. Happy birthday, friend!

The Slice of Life Story Challenge is hosted by the team at Two Writing Teachers
everyday in March and on Tuesdays throughout the year.

  2. Stop the noise - I LOVE IT! I am not a big Friends person, but my own kids are deeply invested in The Office right now. Old TV = comfort TV :)

  3. Hi LeeAnn! I'm so happy you are slicing because you lift my spirits. Your voice and joy leap right through the screen and make me lighthearted. Thanks for that.
    Shine on,
    Ruth
